Fluency Practice

By the end of the year, your child should be reading at a level M. Some students have already surpassed this benchmark and some are still working toward it. Here are some resources to get your child above and beyond where they need to be when it comes to fluency. If your child can read this entire passage in under one minute and retell the main idea and details from the passage, you are on the right track! Start with the lowest level and build your way up. Happy reading!

You will receive copies of this at parent-teacher conferences on November 12.

Fluency Benchmark

Please help your child reach his or her fluency goal for the middle and end of the year. Your child should be able to read this passage in one minute. Have them practice it! Use a timer and make a game out of it. Network 12 has distributed these assessments for fluency practice to be used in class as well. Please email me if you need a different level for practice. The key is reading this in under one minute. Many of our students can read this but not with great expression or fluency. Let's work together to achieve this by the end of the year. Happy reading!
